Guest Post: DIY authentic Italian pizza!

One of the things I look forward to each year on my birthday is the annual pilgrimage to my favourite wood fired pizza restaurant. Close to where I grew up, my family and I head over to enjoy the delights of the homemade dough, sauce and quality ingredients. My favourite is the margarita, simple, but amazingly delicious when done well, and oh boy is it done well!
Committing to the DIY theme, we wanted to present you today with a recipe for you to prepare from scratch. It may seem like a daunting task, I avoid making dough when I can too, it is actually quite easy and only really requires your time to get it right. Any chance I have to bring my favourite kind of pizza into my family home is one I just can’t pass up, so hopefully you will enjoy it just as I have.

Delicious Budget Friendly Cheese Steak Sandwiches for the Family!

So, as my husband and I were watching Best Food Ever on Netflix last night, we decided that we just had to have Cheese Steak sandwiches for dinner. This led to a quick trip to Kroger and we got some pretty good deals! (Gotta love Manager Specials). Even without manager specials though, this isn’t very expensive to make, especially if you watch sales or have some of the ingredients sitting around already.

So, while making it, we decided to take a lot of pictures and share with you exactly what we do. Keep in mind, toppings are optional, the type of bread you use is optional, and the type of cheese is also optional! This is what we did though. 🙂

Meat – We used Choice Beef Round Bottom Round Steak, but you can use any kind of steak you want really. My husband picked this steak for the marbleization.
Vegetable Oil
1 whole Green Pepper
1 whole Onion
About 5 White Whole Mushrooms
Mozzarella Cheese
Hoagie Buns
A1 Steak Sauce

And – Our food critic: Seth! (Our son – 19 months old)
He was patiently waiting for dinner to get done.
