So, how many of you have used Mason Jars and just wrote on the lid with a Sharpie or something similar? What if you could just add a cute label to the top? If you’re interested, definitely check out this week’s Featured Seller Gina from SouthrnWildFlower!
1) How did you start creating?
I became a mama Jan 2011 w/my 1st . Shortly after I found out I was pregnant w/my 2nd who was born Dec 2011. I then became a full time Stay-At-Home mama of 2 boys. I wanted to do what I could to chip in financially and take some stress off of my husband. I searched the internet and came across Etsy. Always loving to be crafty I decided to give it a shot. I picked up a paint brush and started creating!
2) What is your favorite thing about creating?
When I put my boys down for there nap and pick up the paint brush, I go into my own little world. Its Mama’s quite time.
3) Where do you find your inspiration?
My 2 little boys and my Christian faith. I love creating paintings because no matter how they come out, my 2 year old always says “Preeeeeeetyyyyy Mama” Most of my painting I paint with the inspiration of my boys or I love to paint Bible Verses to spread the love of Christ to others.
4) Tell us about what you sell.
I sell hand painted canvas wall art. Such as: Nursery Wall Art, Canvas Quotes, Bible Verse Wall Art, Hand Painted Journals, Etc…
5) How did your shop get it’s name?
I was born in North Carolina and love the south. I also love wildflower’s. I remember when I was a little girl we would pull the car over and pick bundle’s and bundle’s of wildflowers to bring to my nan’s. Good memories! Southrn Wildflower is my shops name, and yes I know that there’s an E in Southern, but without it, it makes it a quicker ending so you say it with a little twang.
6) Do you have any advice for other sellers?
I’ve learned that you get more views when your pictures are clear. I always just put my canvas’s on the table and snap a pic. However once I put a large White canvas board underneath to have a white background, it made the picture’s look more clean and brought in way more views!
7) How do you balance your Etsy shop, your children, and your everyday schedule?
Staying at home with 2 toddlers keeps me busy. I’m constantly cleaning, the kitchen seems like a 24/7 restaurant, and I feel as though I run a daily marathon. But being a stay-at-home mama that is my job to keep my home tidy, play with my boys, and make them meals yummy meals. They come 1 before anything. So my craft time starts at nap time. I usually prepare my paintings with background color while there napping. I then finish my projects at night when they are asleep, so that I can take my time and not rush through anything. That is why most of my canvas paintings are on smaller canvas’s so I can finish them in a week or less.
8) Where else can we find you?
I have a facebook page.
