The idea of Kissy Monster came to be when Jamie the “creative” sister designed two storage bins for her daughter’s room and thought this is unique, can this be a business? Kim the “inspired” sister wants this vision to become a reality. At this point two great minds came together. Who better to become successful with then your sister. We are now two stay at home moms on this journey together.

My wife and I have been picking for the last 2.5 years and we have honed our skills at flea markets, yard sales, and estate sales. With my background in art and my wife’s uncanny ability to find the most beautiful items, we are an unstoppable duo! We are committed to bringing you the best in art, pottery, glass and collectibles. If you’re looking for something to brighten up your home, chances are, we have it! From pottery to glass, folk art to fine art, we bring all the past into the modern world!
My wife and I just opened up about 2 months ago and things have been going well! We started as “pickers” just buying things from flea markets and estate sales for our home, but when things started to overflow, we discovered Ebay. After a good run there, we realized that Etsy was a much better venue for the types of things that we were selling. We love the items that we buy and more than just “things” we hope we are selling a “look”. We have a pretty eclectic style and I think that shows in the shop we’ve created.

I’m Emily and my shop is called MoxieMommas. I’m a SAHM to two toddlers and I just recently returned to crafting; Previously, I spent 13 years as a crazy corporate lady… I specialize in decorative dry erase/message boards, menu planning boards, and, most recently, photo card/note holders.
I made my first message boards last spring as mothers’ day gifts for my mother and mother-in-law (two Moxie Mommas in their own right). My friends and their friends loved them and before I knew it, I was in business. the photo card/note holders came to me in a dream and I’ve already sold several.
I like functional things that are pretty and pretty things that are functional. I guess it’s my own need to organize/aversion to clutter — everything has to have a purpose in my home. If I don’t need it, use it, love it, it’s not earning it’s keep.

My products are Organic and all Natural. I went to school to become a Certified Natural Health Professional. One of my last classes taken with Dr. Philip Fritchey was all about Herbal Remedies. That’s how this came about for me.
I started going to school to learn more about natural health and what you put in your body and how it effects you on all levels. I also started to learn what you put on your skin is just as important and how the chemicals that are used in products and how dangerous they are. I have very sensitive skin and a lot of products would make my skin burn. So the first thing I did was to make my own soap and now my very own skin care.
I absolutely love making them, using them and how they make me feel. My skin isn’t getting any younger but these products are sure helping me keep my skin the best it can be. Younger, Smoother and Healthier!

I am a mom of two beautiful daughters, Madison (13) and Jayden Rose (3). I began my journey of jewelry making when Madison was about 6. She wanted to make some beaded bracelets and from then on I was absolutely in love with the possibilities of jewelry making. I have been creating ever since but would absolutely love to share my creations with others.
My goal is to make economical accessories. I currently have my earrings posted but am getting geared up to post new jewelry and hair items.

I was introduced to crafting at a early age as I was just a toddler when my mom used to have me playing with her button box while she sewed. I was about five years old when my mom taught me how to embroider my first sampler. Once a month I went with my mom and sisters to my grandmothers house. We would meet my aunts and cousins there and have our monthly stitching night. This was a fun tradition that we continued into my teen years.
When I was eight years old my grandmother taught me how to crochet. I immediately fell in love with the feel of the yarn and the flow of the crochet hook. I enjoy crocheting everything from doilies with fine crochet thread to dishcloths with cotton yarn, lovely crocheted afghans, baby clothes, scarves, shawls, rugs and so much more.
After I married and started having my own family I taught myself how to knit. This opened up even more patterns and projects I could make. One of my favorite items to knit is patterned/picture dishcloths. I love watching the picture appear as I knit. The dishcloths also make one of my least favorite chores, dishes much more tolerable!
I have enjoyed making beautiful things to share with my family and friends over the years. After some encouragement from them I decided to open my Etsy shop in August of this year. I am hoping to share my love of yarn with many others and bring joy into their homes also.
That concludes our featured sellers for this Friday! Make sure to Follow OwnSomethingAwesome on Facebook or Twitter to stay up-to-date and see when there is a new blog post! And feel free to leave a comment on the shops!
